SOL 36 PIM Rule

Any player reaching the 36 PIM mark shall be subject to a 1 game suspension and an additional 1 game suspension for each subsequent 10 PIM.

SOL 3 Penalty Rule

Any player who receives three penalties during any one game will be assessed a supplemental Game Misconduct penalty. In other words, this player will be ejected from the game after his or her third penalty and will sit the following game. The three penalty rule will not be a substitute for a Game Misconduct penalty assessed on the ice, so if you get three penalties and the third is a game misconduct, that will receive a two game suspension.  If during the same season you earn another three penalties in the same game, you will be assessed another Game Misconduct. The second Game Misconduct will be subject to a review for supplemental discipline. All penalties assessed will count toward your cumulative total.

Game Misconducts:

Any player that receives a Game Misconduct shall be subject to all penalties issued by on ice officials plus an additional one game suspension. After a second Game Misconduct, you will be subject to a review for supplemental discipline. All penalties assessed will count toward your cumulative total.

 Rule 403 Major Penalties

NAHA SOL Addendum: Any player assessed a major penalty not automatically accompanied by a Game Misconduct shall receive a game ejection. There shall be no opportunity to commit a second major in the same game. The player shall serve all penalties administered by the on-ice officials. The player shall be on probation for three (3) games. Should a player currently on probation for receiving a major penalty commit another major penalty, they shall be ejected and receive a two (2) game suspension and be placed on probation for the remainder of the season. However, the period of probation shall not be less than ten (10) games. If less than ten games remain in the SOL season when the player commits the infraction, the minimum ten game probation period shall extend into the next SOL season which the player participates.

Rule 404(b) Game Misconducts

NAHA SOL Addendum: Any player prevented by penalty from playing for their assigned team shall be ineligible for all SOL in division games on that date.

Rule 405 Match Penalties

NAHA SOL Addendum: Any player assessed a match penalty shall serve all penalties administered by the on-ice officials. In addition, the player shall be suspended for an additional four (4) games. A supplemental disciplinary board shall be held to review the incident for additional penalties or expulsion from the league. If the player is not ejected from the league, the player shall serve probation for the remainder of the SOL Season; however, the period of probation shall not be less than ten (10) games. If less than ten games remain in the SOL season when the player commits the infraction, the minimum ten game probation period shall extend into the next SOL season which the player participates. Should a player on probation commit a major penalty, a match penalty, or is the first to intervene in an altercation during the period of probation, the player shall be suspended for the remainder of the season.

NAHA SOL Addendum: Any player assessed a major penalty for fighting shall serve all penalties administered by the on-ice officials. In addition, the player shall be suspended for two (2) additional games. The player shall serve a period of probation of ten (10) games. If less than ten games remain in the SOL season when the player commits the infraction, the ten game probation period shall extend into the next SOL season which the player participates. Should a player on probation commit a major penalty, a match penalty, or is the first to intervene in an altercation during the period of probation, the player shall be suspended for the remainder of the season.

Division Specific Rules

For Over 40 Division Only:

"Ringer Rule" - All players will have a 3-goal limit per game. If a player scores a fourth goal, the goal will not count and the face-off will be in their team’s defensive zone. If a player scores a fifth goal, the goal will not count and they will be assessed a 2-minute Delaying the Game minor penalty. Players that have scored three goals are allowed to participate in shootouts.

Important Reminder

USA Hockey's updated Points of Emphasis require officials to strictly call abuse of official penalties. Abusive actions toward officials will result in a 2 minute abuse of official penalty. Persisting after this initial call will result in a misconduct penalty (or worse) and ejection from the game. Persisting includes slamming your stick on the boards or glass when in the penalty box. Abuse of official penalties count toward the 3 penalties in one game rule. If you receive 3 penalties in one game, you will be ejected from the current game, and you will be suspended for an additional game and not be allowed to sub or be subbed for while suspended.   All supplemental discipline will be enforced.
